69 Opposites Attract l 103 l Editing, The shape of a film or filmed content

Editing is the most excruciating process for a filmmaker! It's the time to decide the final look of the film, how you want the audiences to see the film. Every cut, every sound, every background note goes into the making of a scene, an actors' performance can be enhanced, DOP's work can be accentuated, in nutshell, editing with a good editing sense can do wonder to your film or filmed content.

Alfred Hitchcock has famously said, "films are made on editing tables". It is a source of immense pain to know that many fellow filmmakers don't know who Alfred Hitchcock is?

I am not kidding, in fact, I adapted this scene into 69 Opposites Attract and today as I edited the chunk I found it has come out well!

I always advise fellow filmmakers to shoot in 1:4 ratio, it saves the confusion and waste of time while editing. In India, Ram Gopal Verma particularly is very clear about the look of his film while shooting, in fact unlike other directors that shoot a scene from four to five angles, just to have options and retain what looks good onscreen, Ramu knows how he wants his scene to look and is one of the rare directors to use minimal angles for one scene!

Try it, you will be surprised with the kind of clarity it gives you, as director and your vision!
