69 Opposites Attract l 110 l Big or Small - An Actors' / Models' Dilemma

The Big Q that an aspiring actor or model face is, how to start getting work, worthwhile work that builds a repertoire and also gives the most important edge; get more work!
This raises the perpetual question, what should be an actors' or upcoming models' strategy, small role in a big, all star-cast film or big role in a small film. From my personal experience if you want to do lead roles go for lead roles whether in a studio film or an independent film or a guerrilla film; playing cameos or one dialogue scenes in a big film, land you nowhere.
I can tell from my personal experience, an actor played a friends' role in an Akshay Kumar movie; he is 6' ft, well-built, strikingly handsome and fair, females gush over him; it's been 65 years, he is still trying to get a lead role, even in a webseries, he's finding it tough and he is a 'kamaal ka actor' brilliant actor!
Another example is of two actress friends that played one of the girls in an Akshay Kumar movie & Salman Khan movie (Toilet Ek Premkatha & Tiger Zinda Hai), after about 4 years in the industry, they are trying to get leads, but it is tough!
The best example is of an actress that played cousin to Kareena's character in Jab We Met; she was hailed & lauded as a terrific actress, which she is, and fit for lead, with who's who saying she is the next big heroine, but the tag of 'sister role' didn't do her any good. Today, of course she is on television and face of a popular daily soap.
Probably it was for this very reason that Vidyut Jamwal refused to play Salman Khan's brother in the hit, Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo and his kitty is full as a leading man with few top producers of the Indian Film Industry.
Point is, if you want to do lead roles stick to them, whether it's a big setup or a small setup; all you need to check in a small setup is, are you getting any 'real value addition' to your profile, in terms of visibility, networking with right people, contacts & money.
