There are about a million film festivals worldwide. Everyday sees around 100 film festivals across the world, of course many haven't even heard about these festivals. Reason, these festivals are mushrooming is that today everyone is a filmmaker and they feel sending their film to a film festival will add to their appeal with respect to getting funds for their next film.
The thought is partly true, but everything depends on 'the film festival' - is it in the 'Top 10'?
If not, what was the impact you, if not your film, created over there. Did you get, even one producer attached to your film; forget attached, interested in your film?
Were you invited to sit down luncheons or dinners during the film festival?
Were you invited to inaugurate any of the sessions and be on the panel of speakers for any of the power-talks, if not the Opening Talk Events?
If your answer is NO to any of these, probably, you are not making the most out of your participation at these film festivals, probably, you are wasting your time attending these film festivals.
Forget any of these, did you take back with you, anything from the talks at these film festivals?
Many a times, you might not agree with the people on the panel of speakers; point is they are on the panel because of a or few reasons. Imbibe those attributes and traits from them and fuse them with your creativity, you will see the difference and the magnitude of your success will surely change!
